Reminders

Swimming pool hours are 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM.  The gate is on an automatic lock.  Please leave the pool area no later than 8:55 to avoid being locked in.  No glass containers are allowed in the pool area.  This is for everyone's safety.

Deffenbaugh Disposal (trash removal) has changed their billing policy on large items.  Now there is an additional charge for large items inside and outside of the dumpsters.  This applies to furniture, appliances, etc.  When contracting for work in your home, be sure the contractor understands that they are responsible for the removal and disposal of appliances, hot water heaters, flooring, etc. from the complex.  When disposing of boxes, please flatten them before disposing.  This common courtesy takes little time, and allows more dumpster space for your fellow residents.  Any additional charges are the owners' responsibility and will be billed to the responsible owner.

All dogs regardless of size or demeanor, must be on a leash that is 10 feet in length or less while being walked within the city limits.  All leashes must be held in the hand, not dragged by the dog.  City of Overland Park fines for failure to confine a canine on a leash are:

1st Offense - $80
2nd Offense - $180
3rd Offense - Mandatory court appearance plus fines

There is an off-leash area at Stoll Park, 119th and just west of Quivira. (See Map)

On January 1, 2001, the City of Overland Park adopted the International package of codes replacing the BOCA codes that have been in place for many years.  One of the codes that are contained within this package is the International Fire Code.
After this adoption, several new fire prevention requirements became law.  One of these requirements addresses using open flame cooking devices, as well as other open flame devices, on or near combustible decks and building construction.  Code sections, 307.5 and 307.5.1, within the 2000 Edition of the International Fire Prevention Code and amended by the Overland Park Municipal Code 16.120.307.5, states that; charcoal burners and other open-flame devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.  Two exceptions to this code are one and two-family dwellings and decks that are protected by sprinkler systems.  Additionally, propane cylinders are not allowed to be used or stored in any locations that I have just described.
These devices can still be used on first floor, noncombustible patios when the 10 foot distance requirement can be maintained.  Keep in mind that combustible construction means the structure, patio, fences, and deck railings as well as combustible decks above patios.
